ABOUT THE COOPER

Part of Max Hospitality, The Cooper Craft Kitchen & Bar first opened its doors in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in 2014. This was the first Max location outside of Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Capitalizing on the still-growing trend of farm-to-table restaurants, The Cooper specializes in fine foods and beverages sourced whenever possible from local farms, food artisans, small-batch distillers, and craft brewers. The Cooper provides a warm, upscale dining experience, mixing sustainable, seasonal dishes with an innovative take on classic American cuisine.

Tennette Shumaker

rESTAURANT Manager

Growing up in Carlisle, PA with four brothers was always a treat especially being the only girl and living in the country of small-town Pennsylvania. Her first job in the hospitality business was my escape to a whole new world, starting out at 15 working the summers in a concession stand at a local lake that everyone frequented. Needless to say it wasn't the most fun job since all of her friends were having fun swimming and playing games while she was the one waiting on them selling burgers and fries, etc. Working that concession stand though gave her the chance to meet people from other walks of life that opened up opportunities that led to other jobs in the industry.

Her first bartending job was at a local hot spot in 1994 that was a blue-collar bar and restaurant that also hosted weekly events and bands on the weekends. This job led to meeting an amazing family that took her on as their bartender at a restaurant called The North Hanover Grill. Soon after, she was given the opportunity to assist in their opening of The Fireside Restaurant. All the while, Tennette was coaching Pop Warner through college, cheerleading with 10 teams including competitive teams and co-ed teams.

In 2010, it was time to leave small town and make the move to Florida, starting at Oakwood Grill with John Spoto and eventually to Spoto's in Palm Beach gardens as a server and bartender. Four years later, she was approached by Rich Rosenthal for a bartending job at The Cooper and in 2016 became the bar manager. Her passion for the restaurant business is her love for people, pleasing them and getting the opportunity to make her mark whether it is through a conversation, a small gesture, or the amazing cocktail, especially loving when a guest's face lights up when they try something for the first time. Cocktails and food can be an adventure not only for the taste buds but also for life.
